Solastalgia is a word created by Glenn Albrecht to describe the  distress caused by the lived experience of unwanted transformation or degradation of one's homeplace or sense of home, for example, through deforestation, land clearance, roadbuilding, etc. It is derived from the word 'solace'. It differs from nostalgia, which is the longing for a time or place in the past.

Glenn Albrecht describes it as 'the homesickness you have when you are still at home'.
